Helpful Digital Photography Tips

studio-2-green-screenDigital photography books stress the same basic categories of skills required for digital photography. Digital photography tips often deal with camera shake. Many people end up with blurred photographs, and don’t understand why. Blurred photos happen when the camera moves during that key moment when the shutter is open and recording the image. If you have problems with camera shake, there are several things you can do. Digital photography books encourage the use of a tripod to prevent camera shake, but tripods can be cumbersome. To prevent problems with camera shake without a tripod, brace or set the camera on a solid surface before taking the picture.

Exposure is another problem often encountered. Digital photography tips encourage examining the available lighting in a scene before taking the picture. If the lighting appears too dark, either use a flash, or lengthen the exposure time to compensate. If the lighting is too bright, shorten the exposure time. When shooting with a flash indoors, avoid placing subjects flat against a wall. The flash will create strange shadows against a flat surface like a wall.

Digital photography books stress using unique points of view. The most interesting pictures can be taken in positions that normally aren’t considered. Don’t be afraid to get into a strange place to take a picture. Stand on a stool, or lay on the ground and shoot toward the sky. Digital photography tips urge using these unique perspectives to makephotographs memorable. The composition of the photograph itself is another key factor in good photography. Digital photography books tell you to mentally divide the camera’s viewfinder into a nine square grid. For the most stunning photographs, the subject should be centered on one of those four imaginary intersecting lines.

Aside from those key skills, the aspiring photographer needs a few digital photography tips. For the best size and framing results, digital photography books have several suggestions. When trying to show something’s size, either large or small, position something people know the size of in the picture. A tree is just a tree, until a human isphotographed beside it. Knowing the average size of a person, the tree is put into perspective. If you arephotographing a landscape, no more than one-third of the picture should be sky. Other digital photography tips suggest using natural frames for your pictures, as the frame provided by your view screen will be absent when the picture is developed.

When photographing people, remember that it is okay to photograph strangers. Doing so provides a feel for the locality you are photographing. When taking pictures of people, always make sure that nothing is lined up directly with someone’s head. If photographing children, try to anticipate their behavior and position yourself accordingly for a good shot.

Ultimately, the best digital photography tips come from being prepared. Always keep your camera clean and dry. Bring a zip-closure bag to protect your camera from rain. Pack extra batteries and memory cards, so you can keep on shooting.

      Hi Boteler,

I wanted to respond to your wanting to post, or ask a question about apprenticeship ??
Wasn’t sure what you meant by that? One on one photography training with me?

Oh, if you hadn’t noticed my name is Tony. Maybe you meant apprentice under you for photography or
something? I know I need lots of help!
I am not a professional photographer, and hope I haven’t left that impression on anyone.
I know a good bit and have a good eye, and I am always seeking to learn.
If we stop learning we must have closed our eyes and went to sleep.
There is so much in this world to learn, and for me right now is trying to conquer building a website.

Well lets discuss the things you mentioned in your request to post a comment about apprenticeship
and amending my site. I know it needs lots of work. Am new at this and need to get more on the ball
      and “getter done.”

The website I am trying to actually build is Advanced Complete Photography, that will be a type of share and
learn from peers, or each other as members to such a site. I want to work up some training and have started that.

Anyway, hit me up again by phone 1-443-852-6550 US or at either of my emails.

  2. Great goods from you, man. I have understand your stuff previous to and you are just too wonderful. I really like what you’ve acquired here, certainly like what you’re stating and the way in which you say it. You make it entertaining and you still take care of to keep it smart. I can’t wait to read much more from you. This is actually a tremendous site.

Hello Do–xey. Sorry, I couldn’t resist trying to sound like that song hello Dolly. Like what you said about liking “what I say and the way in which I say it”. I try to add a little humor and stay with a style that is more like talking than just spitting out a lot of facts. Glad people are finding them helpful and enjoying my posts. Would you mind being on an email list to receive email alerts to a new article being posted by me, and possibly resource materials both free and for pay, possibly in the near future.

      Happily, @Tony B

  3. It is really a nice and useful piece of info. I am glad that you just shared this helpful info with us. Please stay us informed like this. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi, Vernet!
Thanks for the wonderful comments. I have to remember to allow comments on each and every post. That way I can get a feel for which articles people really find informative. Come back and give some details to how you use any tips you may have used from my articles, and maybe I can serve you all better. Going to look up to paragliding website you posted. Thanks for giving me some exposure, since I see that someone else has commented with that same link.

  4. My brother recommended I might like this blog. He was entirely right. This post actually made my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!

    • mballas says:

Oh, I am so glad this site and my words and little bits of knowledge are entertaining, but more so helping people with photography and learning new things.
Glad to be of assistance also. Thank your brother for me as well! Glad people are liking it enough to tell others and spread the word.
      Thanks, Nicholls!

      Respectfully, @Tony B

  5. Yet another thing I would like to express is that as opposed to trying to suit all your online degree tutorials on days of the week that you end work (because most people are drained when they go back home), try to arrange most of your classes on the week-ends and only 1 or 2 courses in weekdays, even if it means a little time off your end of the week. This is fantastic because on the saturdays and sundays, you will be far more rested along with concentrated for school work. Thanks a lot for the different suggestions I have figured out from your blog.

  6. An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a co-worker who was doing a little research on this.
And he actually ordered me dinner simply because I discovered it for him…
lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thanks for the meal!!
But yeah, thanx for spending time to discuss this topic here on your internet site.

suppose you added a title to possibly grаb people’s attention? I

  11. First of all I would like to say excellent blog!

I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you
do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head
before writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes
are wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips?
    Many thanks!

    • mballas says:

      HiLacy,
Glad you asked that question. I have a hard time writing too! It is hard for me to find the write way to say things, or collect my thoughts to stay on topic, sometimes. It seems like most of the comments I get are to articles that writers wrote for the Web development company that got the page up and running for me. I have written many articles on my site though! I wonder why that is? You can probably tell the ones that are mine I interject things relating to the photographs of mine I post to the articles. Lacy, I just try to be myself and write similar to the way I might talk. As for sort of a writers block, I just try to put myself in a shut down mode. Not that I am not actually thinking, but my sub-concenense is grappling with the topic and what to say.

My biggest suggestion is, just put the first thoughts down that you have, and you can always adjust it after you see it on paper or the screen in this case. Just be yourself, and read some articles by writers on the subject of how they write and writers block, and you will find every writer has there own ways of dealing with it. I take a time out when I get stuck, and I don’t suggest this unless you are already a smoker, but I have a smoke listen to music and just ponder it some, and if nothing comes I wait a little longer; read something on the topic I am about to write. Don’t know if that was any help? Something else I should do more of is pray a quick prayer.
Have fun with your writing, and take care for now.

      @Tony
